Project Identification & Design
Climate Compass undertakes a technical assessment for each project, typically at no cost to the client, to determine project viability and to develop an implementation plan and budget that fits the local conditions and the opportunity. Climate Compass' technical team has tens of thousands of hours of experience working to identify and implement emission reduction projects over the past 20 years.
Project Implementation and Management
Climate Compass works to identify and train local staff required to undertake a viable project. Climate Compass then helps manage activities under the implementation plan, including ongoing quality control. Climate Compass has developed proprietary data management systems linked directly to the requirements of key Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) methodologies to ensure compliance and to support effective project management.
Project Finance & Emission Reduction Credit Certification
Climate Compass handles the entire process of submitting and obtaining emission reduction credits from the preferred crediting authority. In order to develop a project generating emission reduction credits, an approved methodology on quantifying and monitoring the emission reductions needs to be drafted and approved. Climate Compass' staff has unprecedented success in developing United Nations approved methodologies to quantify the emission reductions from potential projects and enable the resulting emission reductions to receive United Nations Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) or other credit certifications that utilize the United Nations methodologies like VERRA’s Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS). To date, Climate Compass' personnel have drafted United Nations approved methodologies in a wide variety of sectors including energy efficiency, magnesium production, hydro-power optimization, semiconductor production, water efficiency, and single cycle to combined cycle electricity production.
Climate Compass, along with a network of investors, will directly finance promising projects. Each project’s financing plan is unique, but typically an investment is made upfront to implement the project and is repaid through the future generation and sale of carbon credits from the project. Climate Compass has a network of buyers to help ensure credit sales at prices commensurate with the environmental benefits of the project activities.
Climate Compass' staff have overseen numerous successful validations and verifications, never having failed to secure approval from the certifying body.
